Why this piece is awesome: Dark!Rey or Empress!Rey is a trope that I feel should get more attention than it does (I like what I like XD ) and this piece gives me all sorts of delight in that trope exactly. Rey and Keylo, standing together as rulers of a new empire, red sabers crossed like protective swords. The strong color palette emphasizes the Sith side of them both, but the affectionate embrace and tipped heads shows a softness as well.

Why this piece is awesome: The black and white in this piece makes it almost sketch-like, lending a bit of a hurried feel to the pose of Kylo and Rey. Rey's expression is hidden but her eyes are clearly intent on her purpose. The only color in this piece, blood in scratches and injuries, emphasizes the strong, passionate determination. She's marked him as hers, and that possessiveness shines.

Why this piece is awesome: This is probably the first Reylo piece I ever favorited. The characters themselves are mostly offscreen, only three-quarters of their faces visible, but the focus of the piece is their linked hands. The echo of Kylo's banded gloves and Rey's banded armwraps, in contrasting dark and light, is a gorgeous counterpoint to how their hands are intertwined. Opposites, yet connected.

Why this piece is awesome: For my last SW rec this month, a second piece by elithien. One of my favorite tropes in Reylo is Rey and Kylo getting handsy in the pilot seat of Kylo's TIE whisper, and elithien delivers in this piece. While it's no more demonstrative than a kiss, the position of the two and the grips of their hands give it a definite oomph. I also like the slight blur in the lower right corner that makes it look like we're viewing the scene through the ship's window, for a little voyeuristic nod.

Why this piece is awesome: Retellings or reinterpretations of classic myths are very popular in the Reylo ship, Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Persephone being the two major ones. This piece is another Orpheus/Eurydice, like my previous rec. Again placing Rey in the role of Orpheus rescuing Kylo from the underworld, this one has a deep rich red color palette, with Rey in her white garb the major point of light. The grasping hands around Kylo hint at the Sith/Dark powers grasping for him.
