Why this piece is awesome: It is totally going to bug me to end on an odd number of recs, but February is way too short. February is also the month dedicated to femslashiness, so here's some adorable Hawkeye/Miss America. I love the cheeky tone of it all, and the artist's total commitment to a fun dressup concept. If anyone wants to write the mashup fic where América and Kate are wannabe dancers in 1980s NYC, I would read it. :)

Why this piece is awesome: One of the biggest hits in Marvel's recent publication schedule is volume 4 of Hawkeye. The originating creative team infuse the book with lots of things that seem to be catnip to fanartists. There's the mundane and quirky subject matter from Matt Fraction, the gorgeous, medium-is-the-message style of David Aja, and the muted colours of Matt Hollingsworth. And those monochrome covers. Which do use colours other than purple even if you wouldn't know it by the fanart, hee. This is a nice example of the genre - the stylistic homages almost made me do a double take.
