Why this piece is awesome: How do you depict two AIs in battle? With a lot of creativity and symbolism, which this striking piece delivers in spades. (Very interesting to read the artist's notes, too.) Samaritan's cold and youthful strength vs. a completely fascinating avatar of the Machine - all black, veiled, glitchy. The broken chains! (A hint of multiple faces?) And then the background, which evokes the cyberspace setting of the battle without being clichéd. Amazing work. (I actually downloaded the picture so I could zoom in - it's quite small on AO3.)
