Why this piece is awesome: The first time I looked at this painting I literally shrieked a little bit and jumped in my seat. It's nothing but a very close-up portrait, no gore or traumatic situations, but the raw visceral effect is undeniable. Everything I felt when I was a girl watching Legend and didn't understand about the Tim Curry character is pretty much encapsulated in this painting.
