Why this piece is awesome: I thought I'd follow up the previous Alia portrait with another one from a different, darker time in her life. The use of lighting in this piece is stellar, the look of anguish on Alia's face and the nearly colourless eyes add to its great impact, and the clothing and background are intricately detailed, from the pattern on her dress to the decorated tiles giving her a sort of halo.
