Why this piece is awesome: This is such a beautiful work. I love how the light reflects on the bones of his face and the knuckles on his hand and how his half-turned away pose makes his hair fall forward and hides his eyes in dark shadow. And the way the glowing background halos his head is just lovely.

It's a darker piece but, as you mentioned, the angles and play of light make it truly interesting. I was so enthralled by it that I missed the glowing background the first time around. Hee!

Yeah, it's the light play that makes this piece so fantastic. It's probably very easy to overlook though. You need to take your time when looking at it.

PS Did you miss the Ray one I recced a few days ago, or wasn't it to your liking?
