Why this piece is awesome: *hand on chin* Hem hem, yes, I detect something very Blue Period Picasso in this piece. Pretty darned appropriate for the episode, really. I like it when fan artists mess around with painterly styles other than "realistic" or "cartoony". Her Spike is a little too strong-featured, IMO, but I think Buffy's expression is simply wonderful. I like the way the composition makes the question clearly belong to both of them.

Ooh, another good one! I love that the text is coloured so it's the background coming through the murky black - and, actually, I really like Spike being so angular and corpse-like (in such contrast to his bouncy, fluffy-looking hair!). The both of them get kind of distorted towards the centre of the image - Buffy's face is beautiful and expressive, but then gets taken over the that dark shading and doesn't quite meet her neck in a natural place (that shading by the N!); Spike from the right starts off as a cynical but natural profile, only for his jaw to be kind of clawed out its normal position (like Buffy's neck) towards the centre and its black hollow space. It sucks you in.
