Title: Wonderland
Fandom: Alice in Wonderland
Characters: I dare you to take a look and find them….
Medium: pen and ink
Artist Website/Gallery: at dA

Why this piece is awesome: First, I’m sure you’re wondering, “Why would I want to see art for Alice in Wonderland?”
Alice was the first big fantasy series and it’s still beloved in both it’s original form and many derivatives all over the world.
Way before the term politically correct was coined, this story had a female protagonist in a story unabashedly geared towards girls and none of the joy is derived from meeting Mr. Right!
And lastly, the abundance, variety and quality of the fanworks are insane.

We’ll start with the most traditional of art but it isn’t all that I have in store….

this drawing was made for the endpapers of an edition of Alice in Wonderland but in the end it was used as the cover for the Japanese edition. If you follow the objects round from the top centre, you find the whole story is acted out.

Title: through the looking glass
Fandom: Alice in Wonderland
Characters: Alice
Medium: digital art
Artist Website/Gallery: at dA

Why this piece is awesome: Now here we have a manga style Alice and seemingly a twist on the Lewis Carroll tale. What I love about this one is originality and that it has a darker more adult edge. What do you see in the mirror?

Fandom: Inception
Characters: Ariadne, Arthur, Cobb, Eames, Saito, Yusuf
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
Medium: Digital painting
Artist Website/Gallery: Artist's DA
Why this piece is awesome: The reason why Arthur failed to discover Fischer's subconscious was militarized :D
What makes this piece work so well are the facial expressions: Saito frowning, Yusuf arguing, Ariadne being all attentive... and Cobb squinting, of course! I love that Eames' smirk still has a very fond quality to it, and Arthur's little smile is just precious! I'm amazed at how the pencil work manages to be both free and expressive as well as incredibly faithful to the actor's likeness.
I also love the unusual point of view, and the way the whole scene is backlit. A great piece all around.
