Why this piece is awesome: Lovely portrait of Susan against a quiet autumnal backdrop. My favorite thing about this is that the artist chose to put Susan in front of the background rather than in it. I also really love the soft shading of her gown.

Why this piece is awesome: Another Lucy and Tumnus scene with a very different feel to it than my last rec. I love Lucy's playfulness in this piece. The black background is really effective for conveying the unnatural darkness of the winter; it feels as though nothing exists beyond the circle of lamplight.

Medium: digital comic

Why this piece is awesome: Stunning comic from the POV of Tash, the vulture-god foil of Aslan. In the artist's words, it offers "some thoughts about a death-god’s perspective on inevitability, the differing roles of divine figures, and the ending of worlds." Gorgeously drawn. I especially love the elaborate frames around some of the panels.

Why this piece is awesome: This is such a fantastic portrait of Jadis. Very different from almost every depiction I've seen before, but very fitting both to her incarnation as the White Witch and as the Empress of Charn. Here she's both beautiful and scary and also looks very, very powerful.

Why this piece is awesome: I love nighttime lighting of this work. The dark landscape with the faint pinpricks of stars and the far-off glow from the Queen's castle. The way the light from the unseen source on the right illuminates Edmund's face.

Why this piece is awesome: This is probably my favourite portrait of Reepicheep. With the alert pose of his body and the turn of his head and way he's in the process of drawing his sword, I feel it has really captured the essence of his character.

Why this piece is awesome: I love the lighting and colouring in this work. It perfectly captures the strangely luminous blue twilight of a snowy afternoon. It's very beautiful but also a bit sad. Mr. Tumnus looks so lonely by the Lamp Post.

Why this piece is awesome: This work is both beautiful and gruesome. The scene the delicate pencil work with its flowing lines and lovely shading depicts is filled with nightmareish figures and the glee of the White Witch as she rises the knife to kill Aslan is palpable.

Why this piece is awesome: I love the dynamic composition of this work. The circular movement of the sea, going from the wave the ship is riding on, downwards and then up and up and up for the wave/Sea Serpent until it's on the verge of tipping over onto the ship. The way the waves surge outside the borders helps to heighten the dramatic tension and so does the colouring. The way the dark wave/Sea Serpent is hiding the sun and throwing it's dark shadow over the ship.
