Why this piece is awesome: This is a very cute piece, although the creature looks to be having a slightly difficult time of it! Anyway, I wanted to end these recs on a cheerful note, and this fits the bill.
(Also just to point out the great rec [personal profile] delacourtings linked to in a comment on my last post - marvellous gifs on twitter by deer_mn221b.)

Why this piece is awesome: Can't do a bunch of Shape of Water recs without featuring The Creature! I really like this painting for its use of darkness and light, especially with the fins and glowy traceries. It's really atmospheric, and the swirly background works well. Also, the Creature has a very nice ass!

Why this piece is awesome: Another commonly painted and drawn scene from the movie, and this is my favourite version of it so far. I like that it's traditional art, and the energy and vibrant colour of the paints. There's a bit of sheen on Elisa's hair from photographing the art, but I think it adds to the effect. Love their expressions of fascinated curiosity.

Why this piece is awesome: There are lots of versions of this underwater scene out there, and I really like the colours and the shafts of light in this one. If you click through a couple of times you can see the detail in the bubbles up close, which is cool.

Why this piece is awesome: This was done for Inktober. I really like the limited palette with sepia and black with touches of white, and the starkness works well for the Creature’s details - the sketchy background gives the main foreground figures more weight. Elisa’s face and expression is lovely.

Why this piece is awesome: This is a lovely portrait of Elisa. I like her serious, thoughtful expression, and the background tracery of underwater weeds is nicely evocative.

Why this piece is awesome: This is so cute! An imaginary happily-ever-after for Eliza and the Creature, in a secluded pond. I love the art style and the bright colours.
