For the last day of the month, I have 3 recs for you, all of which are pieces focusing on Emma and all show our beloved titular character in the artist's own unique style!

Why this piece is awesome: This first piece is in a slightly cartoon-ish, almost caricature-like style and I find it to be incredibly charming. I love how the artist's exaggerated Emma's eyes and blush. You can tell that the piece has a bit of texture to it, especially on the dress, and if you keep going to the last slide, you can see the texture in more detail and it's great. I especially like the effect it has on Emma's curls (which I also love) and face. I also really love the shade of yellow/gold chosen.

Why this piece is awesome: This second piece is also cartoon-ish in a way but not in the way the above piece is. This piece looks like what I imagine an animated film of Emma might look like. I don't believe I've ever come across a piece of fanart for a Jane Austen novel in such a style before and I really like it. The piece is crisp and clear but also manages to have a bit of softness to due to Emma's veil. Speaking of the veil, that's one of my favorite aspects of this piece. I'm always amazed when artists are able to add depth to pieces by adding folds to the fabric and I love how the artist has done so here. The little details are wonderful as well, be sure to look at all of the slides in order to see a close up of the flower and Emma's curls. And of course the colors are lovely as well.

Why this piece is awesome: Lastly we have a gorgeous screencap painting of the scene where Emma is posing Harriet. The focus is on Emma, though we do see the back of Harriet, and Emma's expressive eyes immediately draw you in. I love how though the piece is clearly copying Anya Taylor-Joy features, the Emma painted doesn't look like her exactly and has a bit of the artist own style and interpretation mixed in. My second other favorite thing about this piece is the magnificent colors and the contrast between Emma and Harriet. Emma's completely soft and airy with lovely gauzy fabrics and lighter, more pastel-ish colors whereas Harriet is her complete opposite with her bolder color scheme.

Why this piece is awesome: I love fanart that isn't of the typical digital/drawn kind (though I obviously love those too!) and was so happy when I came across this gorgeous keychain and pin. The artist's style is absolutely gorgeous and I love the vivid colors and how they pop against the wooden background. I love Emma's hair, her large green eyes, and the blush on her cheeks. I also love all the details on her outfit - the polka dots and stripes on her bonnet and sash, and her delicate gloves. The pin is also gorgeous and I love all of the different flowers and lovely lettering.

Why this piece is awesome: As I said above, I love fanart that isn't of the typical digital/drawn kind (though I obviously love those too!) and was absolutely delighted when I came across this beautiful embroidery of Emma and Knightley. It'm always amazed when people are able to embroider and have it look realistic and the artist has definitely done that here, just look at the outlines of their bodies, the lines of Knightly's ascot, their hands. I absolutely love Emma's dress (the artist says they used light effect thread for it and I have no idea what means but the result lovely.) I also love Knightley's little gold buttons.

Why this piece is awesome: This piece is an interpretation of the infamous proposal scene, and perhaps even more infamous, Emma's nosebleed. The thing that first caught my eye was the unique style of the piece - it feels like a mixture of a cartoon, paper dolls, and children's book illustrations. Small details like Knightley's facial hair even look like they've been drawn in crayon! It is delightfully charming. I also love the colors, the details on Emma's dress, and how heartfelt Knightley's looks even though you can only see his side profile. Every time I look at this piece it brings a smile to my face, especially when I see Emma's clenched fist.

Why this piece is awesome: I tend to prefer art that is more on the realistic side but occasionally a piece of cute cartoon-ish art will catch my eye which is exactly what happened here. The word cute is not what I would typically use to describe the Eltons but this piece is undeniably cute, so much so that the Eltons almost look like pleasant people, which is quite a feat. The artist definitely deserves credit for that. I love the cartoon-ish, almost children's picture book-like style of this piece. It's just delightful. The artist also has pieces of Emma and HarrietEmma and Knightley, and Emma by herself so definitely check those out as well.

Why this piece is awesome: This is the first of two pieces that are two sides of the same coin, this first one being of Emma. The first thing that caught my eye was just how incredibly realistic this piece is and how much it resembles Anya Taylor-Joy. The second thing was how soft the art looks, particularly in the face, collar, and background. The third was the magnificent texture work on the the hair, dress, and hat. I also just love how, for lack of a better word, pretty it is. I can't stop staring at Emma's face.

Why this piece is awesome: This is the corresponding piece of Knightley and it has all of the same qualities that make the Emma one so beautiful. The incredible realism and how much it is the spitting image of Johnny Flynn, the softness of the art and the colors in the face, the magnificent texture work on the hair and costume. But the thing I love most is how it goes with Emma's portrait. Be sure to swipe to the last image so you can see his and Emma's vignetted portraits together.

Why this piece is awesome: The colors used in this piece are absolutely stunning. Once again we have a limited color palette, this time with soft blues, yellows, and pinkish tans. The pastel color scheme gives the piece an overall ethereal feel. I also love how the artist has used a brighter yellow, really almost a gold, for Emma's hair and eyes in order to make those parts really pop and draw you in.

Why this piece is awesome: This piece has a limited color palette of muted purple-ish grey with spots of soft pink, yellow, and blue and it is incredibly gorgeous. I love art done with limited color palettes and this artist has done it beautifully. The line art itself is also wonderful and has a wonderfully eye-catching gothic style to it - I'd love to see this artist interpretation of some Northanger Abbey characters in this style.

Why this piece is awesome: This piece is done in a style that reminds me of paper dolls and I absolutely adore it. The colors and textures of the piece are incredible, as are the character designs. The characters look like the actors who play them but still have a bit of originality, I think. I also love the expressions on their faces, especially Emma's. The background of this piece is also incredible. I feel like I could look at this piece for hours and find a hundred new things to appreciate and love about it! The artist also has a separate post here that's just Knightley and Churchill without the background and it really allows you to appreciate the wardrobe design.

Why this piece is awesome: This piece is a screencap redraw of one of the most adorable moments in the film and makes it even more adorable. The artist has a distinct style that I feel like is a mix of art nouveau and the art style seen in manga adaptations of classic novels. The background is beautifully detailed without taking too much focus off of the focus of the piece. The art has a gorgeously rich and warm color scheme that adds to the softness and domesticity of the moment being depicted. And of course, it's just cute. The adoration on Emma and Knightley's faces are just adorable. The artist also had another Emma/Knightley piece so be sure to check out their profile if you like this one!

Why this piece is awesome: There are so many things I love about this piece, I hardly know where to begin! I love pastel color scheme and how the bright yellow sleeve of Emma's dress contrasts with it and I love the intricate detailing of her glove. Most of all though, I love the concept of this piece. How the men are presented as cards in Emma's hands. So clever! Not to mention, the cards themselves are lovely with such nice little portraits of the men and the decorative edges. I'd love to own this art as an actual poster or print.

Why this piece is awesome: It's rare to come a piece of fanart that's just of Knightley himself and this is a stunning one of him in all his gorgeous glory. The art has a beautiful pastel pink-tinted color palette with some amazing touches of contrast on the nose, lips, and hair and I love how the artist has filled the negative space with his most infamous line.

Why this piece is awesome: One of my favorite things about the 2020 adaptation of Emma was the way it portrayed Emma and Harriet's relationship and this piece reflects that beautifully. I love how this piece is in grayscale but still has such vivid contrast. The dresses and bows are also delightful but my favorite aspect of this art is Emma's expression. Her face is so content and with her eyes closed and face squished you can just see how much Emma loves Harriet. I love the friendship between Emma and Harriet and this is such a beautiful depiction of it.

Why this piece is awesome: Personally, I'm usually more drawn to digital art but this colored pencil drawing took my breath away when I saw it. The portraits themselves are spectacular but my favorite thing about these drawings is the colors. The artist has an incredible way of mixing colors together. I particularly love the colors of Emma's dress and face, Harriet's hair and bonnet, and Knightley's curls. (I'm also partial to his expression and nose.)

Hi, everyone! I'm [personal profile] delacourtings and I'll be reccing some Emma (2020) fanart with you all this month! To start us off I have 4 beautiful pieces

Why this piece is awesome: The background scenery of this art stunning. I love the pink hued color palette with the contrast of the dark green plants and the light blue of the sky. The artist also has such an incredible ability to show the character's expressions. The yearning in Knightley's eyes is clearly evident, as is the hopeful confusion in Emma's. This art brings me right back to this part in the film. It's not a good enough word but the word that comes to mind for this artwork is simply "lovely." I can see myself ordering a print of this and putting it up in my home.

Why this piece is awesome: This piece is much more simplistic than the one above but equally as great. Once again, bloomsbury's ability to communicate the character's feelings so clearly through their art is impeccable. I also love the way the artist accentuates certain features like Emma's heart shaped face and Knightley's nose, eyebrows, and of course, sideburns.

Why this piece is awesome: This is a beautiful little domestic scene between Knightley and Emma presumably post-canon. The colors are once again beautifully tinted pink but my favorite thing about this piece is how soft it is. The size difference between Emma and Knightley is shown in the cutest way and I love the way Knightley's arm is around Emma. Plus, I just really enjoy the idea of Emma and Knightley spending their free time together cuddling and reading their books.

Why this piece is awesome: Anyone who's seen the film knows it is rife with sexual tension between Knightley and Emma and this piece gives you a glimpse of what it might look like when that tension is finally released. I love the placement of Knightley's hands on Emma's thigh, and the tip of his thumb inside her stocking especially, as well as the way Emma's hands are clenched in Knightley's hair. The best part though, in my opinion, is the way Knightley is looking up at her and Emma's speechless response to his actions.
