Why this piece is awesome: This is a great portrait of Rajura. I love his slightly crazy expression and how the grey-green background sets off the brilliant colour of his armour. The subtle webbing is another great detail.

Why this piece is awesome: This is such a great action scene. I love the almost vertigo-inducing vista and skewed perspective. And the light outlining Ryo and reflecting off his sword is such a neat effect.

Why this piece is awesome: I love this little Touma plushie. He's looking absolutely adorable in his little black-and-white striped tiger suit. It's definitely one of the cutest fannish plushies I've ever come across.

Why this piece is awesome: This is a such great portrait of Seiji. I particularly like the late-80s style of his outfit and the way his characteristic anime hair been softened to a more natural look while still keeping it's distinctive silhouette.

Why this piece is awesome: This is such an arresting work. I love the way the light of the full moon glistens on the strands of Kayura's hair and the details of the shakujo and makes the red of the torii glow against the dark sky. I also love the general composition and Kayura's pose and how strong and confident she looks.

Why this piece is awesome: You don't see realistic works very often in this fandom and this is an exceptionally lovely example. The soft shading is gorgeous and I love Ryo's relaxed pose. And the sleeping Byakuen is absurdly cute for a fullgrown tiger.

This month I'll be reccing art for an old 80s anime that will forever be one of my fannish favourites, Yoroiden Samurai Troopers, or as it was known in the US, Ronin Warriors. The American dub changed many of the names, but I've only ever seen the sub so in these recs I will be using the original names.

Why this piece is awesome: I was very happy when I stumbled across this work in my search for YST art. It's wonderful to see that there are still new works being done for this decades old anime.

I love the skillful way the artist has captured the different Troopers and the subtle use of colours. And Byakuen's grumpy expression as he lets them snooze against him is adorable. Such a sweet and happymaking work.
