Why this piece is awesome: It's rare to find art of people who aren't Elizabeth and Darcy in this fandom, and I actually don't think I've ever seen art featuring the older generation. I love how accurately the artist has captured Mrs Bennet's good humour and vacuity and Mr Bennet's exasperation and desire to be pretty much anywhere else.

Why this piece is awesome: This is probably my favourite piece because Darcy is smiling. Adaptations and fans alike seem to want to make him a dark, brooding Heathcliff, but in canon he frequently smiles, particularly around Elizabeth. I also love that they look so young. They're supposed to be young! He's 28 and she's 21. They're young, beautiful, clever, and in love. This piece manages to show us that.

Why this piece is awesome: It's an amazingly detailed and beautiful piece of art. One of the reasons I like it is because it's historically accurate to a slightly earlier time period than all of the Pride and Prejudice adaptations. As the artist says,
Pride and Prejudice was first written in 1797 (before Austen revised her manuscript in 1813), and the action was probably originally envisioned to take place around 1795/6. Although waistlines were beginning to rise then, this was still considerably before they had become the high Empire line most of us associate with Austen. Of course, they had already become fashionable among the wealthy, such as Caroline Bingley here.
I love that you can see the slightly antagonistic relationship between Caroline and Elizabeth just from their expressions.

Why this piece is awesome: Because it's steampunk Jane Austen! Because Anne is a Brain In A Jar! Because Lady Catherine looks delightfully and canonically cranky!

Why this piece is awesome: I love love LOVE when a piece is really simple (the artist even says that she didn't spend as much time with it as she intended) and it *still* conveys so much character and movement and liveliness and emotion. The cartoony style is so appealing, too.
