This month I will explore the iconic nature of Dr Who's enemy: the Daleks. The Dalek Sailor Senshi have already been recced, but there's a lot more fabulous Dalek art out there!

Why this piece is awesome: A lot of Dalek art falls into three categories: terrifying, cute, or crack. This painting of Daleks racing down a countryside highway is more like a magical illustration from a children's book: realistic portrayal of the fantastic. I love the way the painting is angled at a slant, like a cyclist leaning into a turn, and the way the sky is both bright and ominous -- the same way the Daleks look playful, but are probably about some horrifying task leading to the extermination of the human race.

Why this piece is awesome: A very dramatic and atmospheric painting. I like how the artist has used light and shadow and the dark, tangled background. Diablo the raven's pretty cool, too, and Maleficent's glowing eyes.
