Looking for reccers for upcoming months & open reccing

It's time for our regular reccer recruiting post, and to look ahead to the next month. So far we have only ONE volunteer reccer who signed up for February with this fandom:

So while we won't be entirely rec-less in February, it would of course be awesome if we had more recs. There is still plenty of opportunity for you to jump in and volunteer to rec next month (or to convince your friends to do some reccing). And many cheers for all of our members who volunteer to rec, especially if you rec regularly. Your valiant repeat efforts keep the comm alive.

Looking even further ahead so far NO reccers have volunteered for March, so that month definitely still needs some love (and recs! *g*) too. So please consider reccing in a fandom of your choice, whether small or huge, and comment on the sign-up post and volunteer for February, March or even further ahead if you are so well organized, that you know your fannish interests and time commitments in advance. It's only four recs as a minimum, and you can rec any genre or rating. Or promote us to your friends or in your favorite communities so others do the work.

Open Rec Posting

The monthly open reccing period for all members starts now and lasts until the end of January. If you are looking for something to inspire you, the prompt for this week is "Fashion", but that's totally optional for the recs. However they do still have to conform to the usual rec format and follow the rules for what is allowed to be recced here.

Why this piece is awesome: This is such a lovely portrait of the First Doctor. His at once haughty and contemplative expression is so fitting for the character. And I love the way the light sculpts his face and how it highlights the lazy swirl of smoke from his pipe.

Why this piece is awesome: Amazingly detailed ballpoint work (this artist's preferred medium). It's grotesque (not as surreal as most of their other work, though) and very striking, and I like the wonkily-sized corvidae flapping around the Sandman. Spooky and definitely worth clicking through to enlarge for the details. Plus - yay! - there's a WIP post with a slideshow showing the work developing. Don't click the big arrow up top (an ad) but R-click on the pic then hit "play", if it doesn't start by itself.
