Why this piece is awesome: A beautiful work from one of my favourite Silmarillion artists. The colouring in this piece is not as bright and jewel-like as in many of the artist's other works. But to my eyes the more sombre palette adds to the gravity of the piece. The way the colours darken from the top towards the bottom also cleverly illustrates the progressive darkening of Numenor as can be seen in the various depicted scenes from its history.
