Why this piece is awesome:  J.S. Cavalcante is a fairly well-known dS artist who often works in pencil. I love this particular pencil drawing - the shading, and how it gives movement and drama to this intimate work.
Artist's note: " Fraser might have some. Ray might, too. No story for this one yet. :) It's for Luzula, Just Because She is Awesome. Graphite, 8x11"

Artist on DW/LJ: can't find her there - just the DA site
Artist Website/Gallery: on DA  Unfortunately some pics are just tiny thumbnails and the links to the full sized work seems to have been lost.
Why this piece is awesome: I really like the evil-but-gorgeous-Victoria story arc and this pic is wonderfully intimate and shows Fraser just glazed and lost, with her fingers in his mouth in the classic image. The details don't make sense of course - like her thin dress surely isn't what she'd have worn, and his fur coat around them might not be quite what he'd actually wear either, but I like that it resembles a nest so am happy to allow the artist some artistic licence. And I really like the effect of the falling snow.

Why this piece is awesome: This is a crossover piece (due South with MCR) but it's the Turnbull figure I'm showcasing here. The technique and style's completely different from the last two, but the artist still manages to capture his likeness brilliantly. I don't know how that minimalist line for his mouth is so spot-on, but it just is.

Why this piece is awesome: Once again, really good pastel effects and lighting, excellent likeness and he's nicely pensive and serious.

sl_walker says: "...Turnbull in his regular duty gear (meaning, not the dress reds), looking decidedly badass. I have no idea what the story is, but it's nice seeing a picture of the man looking like the cop he was trained to be."

Why this piece is awesome:
a) I love comics! There are three illustrations with associated text, and it's art-heavy so I reckon it counts as a fanart work to post here.
b) It shows us Ray and Fraser's relationship through the marvellously oblivious POV of Turnbull, which is brilliant and funny.
c) I love the drawing style, and Turnbull's likeness and voice are captured to perfection.
d) I love Dief in the final two pics - his expression, that tail, his paws and ears.
e) Lanyards!

From the Artist's Notes: This is intended to be Fraser's concept of "Happily Ever After" where Fraser, Ray and Dief are still travelling together in Autumn. It is influenced by the fairytale illustrations of Maxfield Parrish. I think Parrish's traditional, fairytale illustrations suit Fraser's offbeat, slightly magical and old-fashioned persona.
Why this piece is awesome:  The artwork is gorgeous overall, with the scenery and colouring. Leyna herself wasn't happy with the posing of the figures and I can see what she means, but I still love the lushness and the details. Dief looks great against the scenic background, very perky, and I can see what the artist means when she says she was influenced by Maxfield Parrish's style in this piece. The other thing I like is that she's done a WIP breakdown showing the pic at various stages of completion. Leyna does this for a few of her works, and I find it fascinating. The WIP link is here.  An even more detailed WIP breakdown for her most recent work (Supernatural fandom - Note, this one's NOT SFW) is here.
