Why this piece is awesome: Because Spock! And Tribbles! He's so relaxed and the tribbles are so furry, even if the damn things are multiplying right under his nose. Unbelievably cute and furry funny.

Why this piece is awesome: It's just lovely - the perspective, Kirk containing multitudes, the likeness. I love the delicate drawing and how Kirk is contemplative, resigned. One of my very favourite fanworks.

Why this piece is awesome: What else do I like? Gender-bending! These two pieces are lovely, retro-ish, stylised pin-up versions of a female Kirk and Spock. The artist has a clean, unique digital style? but really, she had me at lady!Spock. :)

Why this piece is awesome: Admittedly the retro/minimalist book cover thing has been done a lot, but these two versions of a what the episode The Trouble With Tribbles might look like as such a cover are very slick. Also I admit this is sort of borderline wrt being fanart, since the posters sold were licensed and thus sort of official, but it feels like fanart to me not merchandise, so I decided to be undogmatic and include it in my rec set anyway...

Why this piece is awesome: I like AUs, and this is Kirk and Uhura in costumes of a Shakespeare play, gazing at each other, cast as characters from Midsummer's Night Dream. I'm not much into Shakespeare (I know, a philistine), but this just looks nice and romantic on its own. Apparently the artist planned a story which didn't pan out, but some illustrations were done.

Why this piece is awesome: While I'm not actually that interested in Spock/Zarabeth as a pairing, I like the clean lines and comic style of the characters here, and how it contrasts with the textured background that suggests a snowy storm.

Why this piece is awesome: I like h/c, at least as long as the comfort is not dragged out too much (which isn't really much of a risk with a picture, heh). Anyway, this is a straightforward h/c piece with Kirk injured, Spock cradling him and Bones checking him with his tricorder, and I like their poses and expressions.

Why this piece is awesome: It's more expressionist than realist, and I liked how it showed the idea of Spock being lonely and taking comfort from his pet sehlat.

Why this piece is awesome: This is a movie poster spoof for the episode Amok Time. It has a great composition, and I like how the vectorized style of Spock and T'Pring contrasts with the smaller images in the montage.
