Why this piece is awesome: I like the atmosphere and sense of scale and number in this one, and think it illustrates the canon well. It has an epic feeling with the large crowd, and of course with Aragorn being my favorite character, I love to see the highlights of his road to become king as pictures.

Why this piece is awesome: This represents the origins of the show, the Winchester brothers and the monster of the week. But I chose to begin with this pic because it also showcases fandom, which for some reason is obsessed with the boys doing laundry, and Petite Madame’s sense of humor.
If you’ve never encountered Petite Madame, you’re in for a treat! She’s not only phenomenally talented in realistic painting, she experiments often, offers tutorial posts, detailed recs of other’s artwork and she’s funny! Here is an interview with her. Also, she’s posted artwork for a long list of fandoms so if Supernatural isn’t your thing, check out her list for another that you do like. And there are quite a few posts where she discusses programs, tools and shows her work in stages.

Why this piece is awesome: The slightly Western-cartoony style works well with their poses and attitudes: possessive Alucard, confident Integra, comfortable with each other and ready to be menacing to anyone who stops by. Plus, it's cute the way Integra is letting Alucard nom on her hair.

Why this piece is awesome: *hand on chin* Hem hem, yes, I detect something very Blue Period Picasso in this piece. Pretty darned appropriate for the episode, really. I like it when fan artists mess around with painterly styles other than "realistic" or "cartoony". Her Spike is a little too strong-featured, IMO, but I think Buffy's expression is simply wonderful. I like the way the composition makes the question clearly belong to both of them.
