Why this piece is awesome: The ambivalent figure of Nux the War Boy (even his feet are undecided). I love how he's limned in light, the colours and the hints of fire in the dark, the rusting machinery, the lines of golden light as per traditional artistic renderings of such scenes. Also, the use of differently focussed layers for depth, giving the impression of flying sparks. The details are great, enlarged.

Why this piece is awesome: I am full of awe at the way the artist has made this technique work for them. There are a number of pieces in their gallery that utilize it (I'm not even sure how to describe it. Dragging paper over the paint while wet?), but I think this one is the best of the lot.
